The waterwheel attaches to the house using a technic axel, which connects to part 2854 crankshaft connector. A series of more technic axels drives the crankshaft connector up and down, which turns the waterwheel. This is a fun way to incorporate movement into the model, though I am curious how this will incorporate into the rest of the model. The movie Hocus Pocus has been a cult classic for decades.
Max and Dani’s House in “Hocus Pocus”
Reiterating the conclusion of my personal bias, Monster Fighters would be better to me but kudos to the fan designer for the effort and success. Set looks like it’ll be popular as a parts pack for Medieval or Harry Potter MOCers. I like that it has dollhouse-style construction like the Old Fishing Store.I still wonder how many actual fans of the film will end up buying this. It’s a pretty expensive item for what is basically a cult movie.
Lego Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters' Cottage 21341 Damaged Box Complete
Winifred, Sarah, and Mary Sanderson return to seek children to eat and plan revenge against Reverend Traske's descendants. The trio must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking havoc on the world. Halloween is right around the corner, and you know what that means — it’s time to watch the 1993 Disney classic Hocus Pocus again! The wise-cracking, scene-stealing Sanderson Sisters put a spell on us, making the movie a fan favorite for nearly 30 years. But the houses, sets, and locations were pretty magical, too. The front cover is the boring plain sanitised version, but the inside features a lovely profile of the fan designer, trivia about the movie and also features the sets designers.

After causing havoc in the town, she runs with sister Sarah and Mary to a forbidden forest. There, they meet the Witch Mother and gives Winifred a magic spell book. In the present day, 29 years after the events of the first film, in 2022, an aspirant witch named Becca is celebrating her 16th birthday with her friend Izzy. When the owner of a magic store named Gilbert gives a magic black candle to Becca for her birthday, she goes to the forest with Izzy along with their other friend Cassie and they summon the Sanderson sisters.
It’s an easy way to display and appreciate these minifigurses, as well as use this section as part of the build. Most notably, Dani’s witches hat which has hair fused to it is spectacular, and such a great option for those looking for an upgrade Witch’s hat for minifigure Halloween outfits. Here’s a look at the side characters, Allison Watts, Max and Dani Dennison. They’re also equally as detailed, and I really like their outfits, which are really contemporary, although Dani Dennison’s witch costume completely steals the show. I've never seen the movie but it looks like someone at LEGO thinks it is 'iconic'. Couldn’t care less about Hocus Pocus or a Sanderson Sister but the house is good.
I just learned from a reader named Ryan that the interior of Allison’s house wasn’t a set after all. They filmed inside what is known as “The Crank House” in Altadena, California. It is bound in human skin and contains the recipes for her most powerful and evil spells,” Allison reads on the display in the museum.
Build a set filled with charming details
In Bag 4 we assemble and add the stairs to the upstairs. These are constructed using a similar clip-and-bar method and are also easy to bump out of place. I found this frustrating, as they kept moving when I was trying to attach the stairs.
On the other hand, I'm not crazy about the print-quality of light-on-dark of recent years either, and I want TLG to do better.Do better, TLG. I don't care about Hocus Pocus, but that's a very nice mill cottage build. It's a bit on the pricey side considering I got Medieval Blacksmith for less than half that price, but I'll keep an eye out for discounts. I remember when this came out; didn't care for it then and I forgot all about it until today. Now they're going back to the well what, 30 years later?
That's all the LEGO release news for this month, but August 2023 is going to be stacked. Tons of great sets are out next month, some of which are not up for preorder and will have to be purchased when the clock strikes midnight on the dawn of the new month. To sate your LEGO needs until then, be sure to check out our picks for the best LEGO sets for adults, as well as the best LEGO Technic sets and the best LEGO sets for kids. Since 2009, "I Put a Spell on You" which features prominently in the first movie, plays during the audience exit for the fireworks show Halloween Screams for Mickey's Halloween Party at Disneyland.
Looking at the box, this set seems chock full of details aimed at fans, and also looks to incorporate some fun building techniques. Since this set is aimed at the adult builder who also happens to be a fan of the movie, it will be interesting to see if it strikes the balance of engagement for more mature builders, as well as including fan-focused play features. We build our first witch in Bag 5 — Mary Sanderson has entered the model! We also add more walls and Winifred Sanderson’s iconic spell book held in its display stand. I would have preferred the spell book’s cover be a printed piece, but it is a sticker instead, which is a consistent theme throughout the set. The rest of the right wall is constructed, with a large archway in the middle.
But as the LEGO Ideas team tends to do, they sucked most of the character out of it.Also, awful, awful price. The ones used on the box make it look like a knock-off. Obligatory "Allison, Allison, kiss me, I'm Allison" quote.Honestly, my main let down with this is Allison's face print. It just doesn't fit the character like the other prints do. The witches are so detailed, and Max's face just really works, but then Allison's just looks like a reused print. Reading the rest of the comments, it appears that I'm the only person on Brickset Dot Com who (A.) has seen the movie, (B.) liked the movie, and (C.) intends to buy this set.
Before they die, Winifred (the oldest of the sisters) casts a spell stating they will return when a virgin lights a black candle in their house. In the present day, 1993, a newcomer from Los Angeles, California, Max, is bullied at school by two bullies, and has a crush on his schoolmate Allison. On Halloween night, his parents force him to go trick-or-treating with his sister Dani while they go to a party. Max and Dani stumbles upon the house of Allison and decide to go to the house of the Sanderson sisters. While at the house, Max lights a black candle and brings back Winifred, along with her sisters Sarah and Mary Sanderson.
Their "throw a million things against the wall to see if anything sticks" product design strategy is certainly ... This is really unfortunate, because having some way to open the roof would have allowed for greater visibility of the small, rich details inside. As with all of the sets in the 18+ / Adults Welcome lineup, it features a colored stripe along the bottom edge containing details about the set. The 268Medium LilacDark Purple complements the spooky vibe perfectly. ” While packed with details from the classic film, let’s find out if this set is spellbinding enough to be yours too. You can see the house in other movies, as well, including Catch Me If You Can, Scream 2, and Matilda, which I featured here.
There’s also an Easter Egg with the fan designer’s name and birthday on one of the graves. With the minifigures and these iconic characters being a huge draw of the set, the designers have also come up with this fence/gate section which also double as a display stand for all the minifigures. Like most licensed sets, the minifigures are the heart and soul of the LEGO Hocus Pocus set. 6 minifigures are included (sadly no Billy!), and include Max and Dani Dennison, Allison Watts, and the Sanderson sisters – Sarah, Winnifred, and Mary Sanderson in their witchy best. I don't like how the outside of the building looks at all. But then again I might have been spoiled by the excellent blacksmith set.
Strange being released in July as Halloween is months away, but a good Halloween set. Great parts pack - I imagine cool stuff like the grey skull, witch's hat and perhaps even the candle popping up in other sets as well, so fingers crossed for that. I've never seen the movie, but at least the Ideas submission looked interesting.
However, its products are now sold in more than 130 countries worldwide. The LEGO Ideas Disney Hocus Pocus – The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage set is available for LEGO VIPs from 1st July at /Hocus-Pocus and LEGO Stores for all from 4th July 2023 priced at $229.99/€229.99/£199.99.
